Dr. Hong Zhu is a Professor of Biostatistics in the Department of Public Health Sciences at the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine, and the Director of Biostatistics Shared Resource at the UVA Comprehensive Cancer Center. She received her Ph.D. in Biostatistics from the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health. Dr. Zhu’s statistical expertise is in design and analysis of explanatory and pragmatic clinical trials, complex survival data analysis, and causal inference. She has over a decade of experience in design, conduct, analysis, and reporting of cancer clinical trials, as well as cancer-related laboratory, clinical, translational, and population science studies. Dr. Zhu’s research work has been supported by extramural funding from NIH, NSF, and PCORI as PI, Biostatistics and Data Management Core Director, and Co-I. She co-authored a book entitled “Design and Analysis of Pragmatic Clinical Trials” (Chapman & Hall/CRC, 2023).
 

Dr. Zhu is a committee member of the NCI Head and Neck Steering Committee - Metastatic Recurrence Task Force. She has served on Cancer Center’s Protocol Review and Monitoring Committee and Data Safety and Monitoring Committee since 2013.
